Born in Leicester in 1969 Adam Barsby showed an early artistic talent which would eventually lead him to graduate from Kent Institute of Art and Design in Maidstone with a First Class Honours Degree.
Following his graduation in 1992 Adam Barsby worked on several freelance projects for Art Galleries and magazines whilst developing his distinctive style.

In 1996 he decided to commit himself to paint on a full-time basis. Adam Barsby’s confidence was soon rewarded as he was invited to exhibit at many prestigious galleries throughout the UK.

Inspiration
Adam is said to draw his inspiration from Stanley Spencer, as well as the naive artist Alfred Wallis.

Another big inspiration for Adam Barsby is his love for the sea. Most of his works feature harbour and coastal scenes as backdrops for his pictures.

Adam Barsby was born in Leicester in 1969. After graduating in Illustration at The Kent Institute of Art and Design with a first class honours degree in 1992, he began his artistic career as a freelance illustrator. At the same time he began working in galleries in and around London. This is where he saw painting and fine art as a vehicle not only to successfully finance himself, but as a means to express his creativity. Since turning fully professional in 1996, Adam has been awarded a number of accolades which include Best Up and Coming Artist 1999, Best Selling Artist of the Year 2000 and no less than three nominations for Best Published Artist. For the last few years however, Adam has sought to redefine his style. He decided to reflect his own childhood experiences, growing up as a child in the 70`s and 80`s. This in turn fed into his fictional landscapes where you can often find a small figure with a canine companion considering their journey through life; what the future holds and their unbending relationship. His artistic influences are clearly seen in his work. Lowry has been a long-term inspiration, together with the naive genre of art initiated in the UK by Alfred Wallis.
